I assumed BOOK OF MORMON would win a lot, and they did. Best Musical, Director, Score, etc. Even so, people thought they would also walk away with the Best Actor and Featured Actor, but they didn’t. I was kind of happy about that. A sweep would’ve left all the other talented people from other shows in the dust. Remember THE PRODUCERS when they swept every single category? Didn’t feel good, did it?
I love that Mark Rylance won. Nikki James too. That was an upset for sure.
Kathy Marshall for Choreography was so deserving, no question. Same for Sutton Foster as Best Actress in a Musical (even though my personal favorite was Patina Miller for SISTER ACT). Next year I think I’ll blog along with the show. Too much to take in right now.
Interesting year for Broadway. SPIDERMAN got a singing spot (not officially opening until Tuesday), MEMPHIS too – their big night was LAST year (ho hum).
Best thing tonight in my opinion was Neil Patrick Harris!
Host found, game over. Seriously! Never have another host again for this show!!!
