Sadly, I can no longer afford to keep this website up and running. I don’t know when the hosting will  stop, but I’m suspending my end of it on November 1st. Hopefully you will enjoy the archives while it’s still running.

I’m not sure how this all works. I AM keeping the dealing with divas domain name. Just because.

Thank you for your support for the past 11 years!

Eleven Years and Counting

It’s still amazing to me that I wrote and published my book, Dealing with Divas, 11 years ago next month! Some days it feels like it just happened. Other days, I look back and see how much I’ve accomplished in both my personal and professional life and shake my head. The biggest thing I have learned over these past years is how to take criticism and praise graciously. The majority of my reviews have been very positive. If anything, the criticism is that I needed to write MORE than I did. I take that as a good thing.

I knew people might not like the way I approached the subject of dealing with difficult people. My book isn’t about drama but about how YOU choose the work environment you want, giving you tools along the way.  What I wasn’t as prepared for was the outpouring of support.  It has been a very humbling experience. I’ve been asked to speak about the message of my book on occasion over the years (radio shows, magazine articles, book signings) which has forced me to go outside of my comfort zone. Ultimately, I found I really do love talking about the positive impact my book has had on people.

It’s been a great ride and I want to thank all of you for being there with me on the journey.

If you are still trying to figure out what to give someone for the holidays, buy my book! Not only is it unique but it would be fun to buy for a secret Santa gift, or as a gift exchange item. Do you really want to buy another candle?! Give this book to the Diva in your life. You can order Dealing with Divas on my website or at Thanks again for your support!

Think everyday something no one else is thinking.
Do everyday something no one else would be silly enough to do.”

Dear MKIA,

Usually I read your column and nod in silent agreement with the questions and the answers. Usually the questions are about real life events that touch close to home — mainly my home away from home — my job.
So today I find myself in a strange position. I am writing to say I actually have been of late getting along with my boss really well. This is leaving me a bit unsettled. I guess my question is this: will the magic last?

Dear MKIA,

I have finally decided to move to another state where the pace is drastically different and starting my life over. I’m kind of done with the Executive Assistant world. Many of my friends still work in this “world” and some of them are really giving me a hard time  about leaving. I have a job all lined up and I will definitely be living a completely different lifestyle far away from Hollywood. It bothers me that my friends are treating me like a some kind of person who is “lesser than” now that I won’t be working with celebrities. What to do?
